How to set the timer on Instagram step by step
What is the Instagram timer?
Before entering the guide and see in detail how to set the timer on instagram, I think it is necessary to explain well what we are talking about.
Timer feature is built into Instagram stories and can be used via tag Countdown. Its purpose is to display a dynamically updated countdown (that is, without having to update or change it over time) related to a date chosen by the user.
It is not possible to use it in the content of the publications, in the form of classic posts, nor is it possible to use the function in question to set a timer to automatically take photos on Instagram. For that, you have to take the photos with the function integrated in the Android or iOS camera application.
How to put the timer on Instagram stories
Let’s get straight to the point and see how to put timer on instagram stories using the special sticker I told you about before.
I anticipate that the operation is feasible only from the official application of the social network for Android and iPhone. In normal publications it is not possible to do so neither through the Instagram application for Windows 10, nor through its web version.
Android
To continue Android, all you need to do is open Instagram, create a new story and, add to the photo or video, the sticker that allows you to start the timer.
The first thing you should do is access Instagram from its official application, press the icon of a cabin (bottom left) and press the camera.
After that, make sure the mode History is set up and take a photo or video using the shutter / record button placed at the bottom.
Alternatively, you can grab content from the Gallery by pressing on the square in the lower left and selecting the photo or video of your interest.
Once done, click on the smiley emoticon located in the upper right, select the label of Countdown and write the countdown name in the corresponding text field (within the label itself).
Then touch the item Set the end date and time and, through the menu that opens, choose an end date.
Put in OFF the switch located on All day (at the bottom), you can even set the exact time for the countdown to end.
At this point, press the button. final (top right) and, if desired, touch a multicolored ball (above), to change the color of the sticker.
Then you just have to place the sticker where you prefer (just drag it with your finger to the desired point) and make it bigger or smaller (widening or narrowing two fingers on the latter). Finally, touch the item Your history (bottom left) to publish the created content.
iPhone
Have a iPhone And would you like to know how to countdown on Instagram stories?
No problem: you have to follow, more or less, the instructions I gave you in the previous chapter dedicated to Android.
First, therefore, access Instagram from its official application, press the symbol of cabin (bottom left) and press the icon camera.
Once the Instagram Stories editor opens, make sure the Story mode is set (otherwise select it yourself) and take the photo or record the movie to share, using the shutter / record button located at the bottom.
Alternatively, you can use a photo or video already present in the iOS roll by pressing on square located in the lower left and selecting the content of your interest.
At this point, press the symbol for a smiley emoticon (top right), select the sticker Countdown and write the countdown name in the corresponding text field attached to the label.
Once done, click on Set the end date and time present at the bottom of the label and, using the appropriate menu, set an end date.
If you want to set the exact time for the countdown to end, remember to disable the option All day, going up to OFF the appropriate switch.
Now, touch the wording Finalize located in the upper right and, if desired, press the multicolored ball at the top to change the color of the sticker.
Next, place the sticker at the desired point (for this you have to drag it with your finger where you prefer) and make it larger or smaller (for this you have to widen or narrow two fingers on it).
When you’re ready to do it, finally hit the item Your history (bottom left), to publish the content.
Computer
As I told you a few lines above, at the time of writing this guide, It is not possible to put the timer on Instagram stories from PC. This is because neither the Instagram application for Windows 10 nor the web version of the social network allow you to create stories (they only show them).
If things change in the future, I will not stop updating this part of the tutorial with all the relevant information.
